T.D. Olson

T.D. Olson is a professional mixed media artist currently living in Taos, New Mexico. Inspired by abstract expressionism, Olson's work develops from a state of curiosity, exploration, and experimentation. The work being born right on the canvas, board or paper.  Unaware of what the finished piece will look like, the "evolving" process becomes as exciting and interesting as the painting itself and is the most important part of the work; a vision that only begins to reveal itself by working, reworking, revising, eliminating and waiting. Relying on instinct, olson allows the painting to develop, emerge and inspire pictorial inventions (with an element of chance) that Translate the spirit of the desert. Collectively, the paintings are a hybrid of finished, unfinished, abstract and representational....containing layers hidden and revealed by the flickering light of the moon or the blinding glare of the desert sun.

Exhibiting since 1990, T.D. Olson's work appears mostly in private collections and in colleges and universities.

Two paintings were featured in an architectural book "The Simple Home" (pub. 2007)
